What’s the Best Way to Clean All-on-4 Dental Implants?

All-on-4 dental implants can be a great long-term solution for patients who’ve lost most or all of their teeth. They look and function more like natural teeth than traditional dentures—and they’re fixed in place, which makes daily life easier. But just like natural teeth, they need daily care to stay clean and healthy.
Keeping your All-on-4 implants clean is essential to keeping your gums and the surrounding bone healthy. So, what’s the best way to do it?
Daily Cleaning Basics for All-on-4
Even though the implants are artificial, the tissues around them are not. That means plaque and bacteria can still build up and cause issues like gum inflammation or peri-implantitis (an implant infection similar to gum disease). Daily cleaning helps prevent these problems before they start.
Use a soft-bristled toothbrush to brush twice a day. Focus on the gumline and the underside of the denture, where food and plaque can collect. Many patients also use an electric toothbrush, which can make it easier to clean thoroughly—especially around hard-to-reach areas.
Don’t Skip Flossing—Just Modify It
Traditional floss won’t work well under an All-on-4 bridge. Instead, use floss threaders, super floss, or a water flosser to clean underneath the prosthesis. These tools can reach the space between your gums and the implant-supported denture, where food debris tends to hide.
Adding an antibacterial mouth rinse can also help reduce bacteria in areas your brush and flosser might miss.
